5 Sports I Wish Were in the Olympics

If you are alive and located anywhere near a TV or the internet, chances are you have seen at least a snippet of this year's Olympic Games. From the inspiring stories of the Refugee Olympic Team to the stunning performances of athletes like Simone Biles and Katie Ledecky, this year's Olympics have captured the world's attention (and our hearts). Seriously, all hail queen Simone Biles.

Given my lack of athletic prowess (also: here), chances are I will never be in the Olympics (unless they add a subcategory of competitive napping or Harry Potter Trivia).  However, I have put a lot of thought into what new sports could be added to the Olympics. Without further ado, here are the top 5.

5. Dodgeball

"Dodge, duck, dip, dive, dodge." If the movie Dodgeball taught us anything, it is that dodgeball has the potential to be an extremely competitive sport. I would love to see the United States and Russia competing against each other in a Dodgeball match.

4. Drunk Goggle Simulator

If you went through driver's ed, chances are you experienced these beauties, meant to simulate the effects of being drunk and remind participants of how much alcohol impairs their reflexes. As you see in the above image, they are very effective.

For the 2020 Summer Olympics, I want to see these drunk goggles incorporated. This can either be through a full-scale event (drunk googles kickball anyone?), or a PSA featuring Olympic athletes using these to raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving. Who wouldn't want to see the most coordinated and athletic people in the world attempt to use these goggles?

3. Zorbing

I want an entire subcategory of zorb events: Zorb Racing, Zorb Soccer, Zorb Synchronized Swimming. With zorbing, the possibilities are endless. We may need to be careful of where we place the anchors though...

Check out the Youtube clip below for an example of what zorb soccer looks like.

2. Quidditch

While we haven't quite perfected flying brooms to play Quidditch (where is the money science?), this documentary preview from the UCLA Quidditch Team and highlights reel from the US Quidditch World Cup prove that muggle Quidditch is alive and well. The Quidditch World Cup already has international participation, so let's bring this to the Olympics. Click to learn more about  US Quidditch and Major League Quidditch.

1. Capture the Flag

Nope, not that capture the flag. I am talking the good-old, elementary-style classic capture the flag.
