It’s no secret that my partner and I love a good beer. We even run an Instagram called LA Beer Cats where our cats review beers from around the country. While we focus on Los Angeles breweries for Spotlight Saturday every week, the majority of beers are acquired through Tavour, the best way to get beer from around the country shipped directly to your front door.

Brewing 'My First Time,' a Coffee Cheery Porter

Drinking a stout in the winter to complement a rich soup, or a crisp hazy IPA on a sunny Southern California day are among my favorite things. But drinking beer is more than just a hobby to us.

Last year, we had brewed our first beer at Zymurgy Brewing in Torrance (while Zymurgy is now closed, Smog City is now in that location). The beer we brewed was coffee cherry porter aptly named ‘My First Time.’ Learning about how how much work goes into producing a good quality beer transformed my understanding and made drinking delicious beers even more enjoyable. 1.5 months later we embarked on a 3.5 week brewery road trip of the East Coast states searching for some of the best beer in the country. Because we couldn’t wait to sample our beer (which was still carbonating) until after we got back from our trip, we packed 3 bottles of it in our suitcases to sample and distribute to friends along the way. We even ended up sharing some with the bartenders of our hotel in Washington, DC.

When we returned from our roadtrip, we hosted a beer tasting party for us and 25 of our closest friends in our studio apartment. Want to host your own beer tasting party with beer food pairings? Here’s how. Our beer label was designed by the incredibly talented Christina Chi, who co-brewed the beer with us and Derrick Vandermillen.

All of this is to say, we know our beer. We even bought a beer fridge during COVID quarantine so we wouldn’t have to choose between ordering quality beer or fresh produce.

If you want some of the best quality beer in the country, there is only one place you need to go: Tavour.

Why Tavour?

Tavour is the only place you need to go to receive some of the top beers in the country. Not only do they source from some of the top hard-to-find and 100% independent breweries in the world, they do so across state lines and taking into account what you can’t get in your local market. I have some fantastic local breweries around me that distribute via Tavour, but those aren’t the beers that show up on my Tavour app (I can head down the street and buy them). Instead, I see beer featured from independent breweries around the world that have no distribution where I am located.

Once you download the app, you will receive notifications from Tavour when new beers go live on the app. Some sell out within minutes, but often they are available for at least a day. You select what beer you want to add to your crate, and can select when you want your crate to ship. We usually choose to load up the crate for a month before having it shipped. For beer geeks anywhere, Tavour was made just for you. Simple, and easy quality beer delivered across state lines and you never have to leave your couch!
